<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent recording to be performed on a recording medium, from being performed in a liquid drop ejection region. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An ink drop ejection region is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a carrier belt for carrying paper. A position sensor outputs a detection signal when detecting that paper and the ink drop ejection region reached a passing position. A mask signal output part outputs a mask signal for masking the detection signal when the ink drop ejection region reaches the passing position. A head control part controls an ink-jet head to print an image on paper based on the detection signal when the detection signal is not masked with the mask signal in the case of printing the paper, and controls the ink-jet head to print an inspection pattern in the ink drop ejection region based on the detection signal when the detection signal is masked with the mask signal in the case of printing the inspection pattern in the ink drop ejection region.
