<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect excellently the nipping of a foreign substance even when a sensor is provided only to one arm of a rake. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The monorake garbage remover includes the rake 3, each rake support 4 supporting each arm 31 of the rake 3, a hoisting and lowering mechanism 5 used for hoisting and lowering each rake support 4, and a spring 81 which energizes the scratching plate 30 of the rake 3 toward a screen 2. The hoisting and lowering mechanism 5 includes a first and second guide rollers 40, 41 which are pivoted to each rake support 4, further includes each linear guide 6, allowing the second guide roller 41 to travel thereon and each circumference guide 7, allowing the first guide roller 40 to travels thereon. The midsection of each arm 31 in the longitudinal direction is supported on the lower end part of each rake support 4 with possible swinging movement, and the fulcrum point Q of each arm 31 is formed. Then the positions of the fulcrum point Q are connected to each other with a connecting member 32. A sensor 9 is provided to one arm 31, which monitors the expansion state of a compression spring 81 and which detects the nipping of the foreign substance between the scratching plate 30 and the screen 2.
