The element (10) has an achromatic, luminous flat area (16) containing a reflecting flat structure with microelements, which are characterized by a lateral dimension, a height, a counter form, a relief form, a spatial position and a spatial direction. The lateral dimension of the microelements lies below a resolution limit of a human eye. One of the characterizing parameters of the microelements occasionally varies within the flat structure. The lateral dimension of the microelements is less than 30 micrometers. A surface profile of the structure is stamped in a thermoplastic lacquer coat. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an optically variable securing element.
