A fastener device 1 for securing a member 10 to one apertured support 8, comprises, a head having a shank 3, the end of the shank remote from the head having a laterally projecting means for engagement in an aperture 7 in the support 8 or a member 6 to be assembled in the aperture, the portion of the shank 3 between the head and the projecting means having a cross section of a segment of a circle, the flat face of the segment being disposed nearer to a line extending longitudinally of the shank and normal to and coincident with the centre of the head than the outer surface of the curved face of the segment. As shown, the fastener is assembled with the member 10 by a tilting motion to bring the flange 2 beneath a covering 10a and to overlie an aperture 9, and a nose 4 at the free end of the shank 3 is then engaged with the apertured support 8, or as shown in Fig. 4, with the member 6 assembled with the support 8. In another construction Fig. 6 (not shown), the nose of the shank is frusto-conical and the lower end of the shank is provided with a radial flange for resilient engagement with the support. In a similar arrangement, Fig. 7 (not shown), the nose is formed with an axial split or recess. In the construction according to Fig. 11, the shank 3 and nose 4 are hollow, the shank having a cut away portion 14 and a flange 15 and the nose having a transversely extending web 16. In a similar arrangement, Figs. 13 to 16 (not shown), the web 16 is omitted and the inner wall of the nose is formed with longitudinally extending grooves. In all arrangements, the device is preferably formed as a one piece moulding of resilient plastics material. |
