The device (10) has a cylinder (20) in which a pressure chamber (16) is separated from another pressure chamber (18) by a plunger (14). The plunger is moved by subjecting the former pressure chamber with a pressure medium that is guided from the latter pressure chamber. A set of throttle devices (26, 28) i.e. proportional valves, throttles volumetric flow rate of the pressure medium, where the volumetric flow rate of the pressure medium flowing through the throttle devices is regulated based on an input signal that is provided by a control device (30). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a drive device for a door vehicle.
