PURPOSE: A broadcast receiver and a contents using method thereof are provided to turn off the display state of a display unit included in a broadcast receiver after transmitting contents to an external device. CONSTITUTION: A broadcast receiver(100) includes a display unit(110), a signal process unit(120), a communication unit(140), and a control unit(180). The display unit displays contents. The signal processing unit performs the signal processing of contents in order than the contents are suitable for the display method of the display unit. The communication unit transmits contents to one or more external device. If a transmission request command about contents is received, the control unit controls the communication unit to transmit the contents to an external device and selectively controls the display state of the display unit.
