PURPOSE: A portable electronic device and a playback method thereof are provided to play a contents file which is not saved in a device by downloading the file from a server and displaying the file through other input-output part. CONSTITUTION: A portable electronic device is composed of a first input-output part(100), a second input-output part(200), a first and a second controller(120,220), a memory part(400), and a controlling part(300). The first input-output part plays multimedia contents. The second input-output part plays an electronic document. The first and the second controller transmit a video signal to each first input-output part and second input-output part. A link target contents file is searched from the memory part, and is outputted to the first input-output part when the controlling part receives a user input about the hyperlink object.
