The dental camera (5) comprises a focusing device, housing (6) and lens (40,41,42) for imaging an object on a recorder (7). The lens has a partial lens for generating a real intermediate image lying between the object and the recorder. The focusing device has an electro-optical component (8) which is formed as a variable liquid lens that is arranged in an area directly adjacent to an aperture diaphragm.
