PURPOSE: A fault tolerant control ethernet device of a hybrid type and a fault tolerant control method thereof are provided to mix a software method changing a port by detecting a fault through a program. CONSTITUTION: A first and a second ports(110,120) input/output a signal of a LAN(Local Area Network) switch. A signal sensing unit(200) senses a signaling flow of an activated port interchanging data with the LAN switch between the first and the second ports. A switching control unit(300) changes the activated port according to data sensing of the signal sensing unit. The first and the second port are included in one network interface card(100).
