PURPOSE: A method for inputting a character and a menu using a central key is provided to enable a user to rapidly and accurately input the character/menu using a dial pad including minimum keys. CONSTITUTION: Two central keys(* key and # key) are arranged on the center of a dial pad. Ten peripheral keys surrounds the * key and the # key. The dial pad having 3x4 arrangement includes the * key, the # key, and ten peripheral keys. A base value is inputted by pressing the peripheral keys on the dial pad having 3x4 arrangement. The base value is converted into * value by pressing the * key. The base values is converted into # value by pressing the # key. The base value, the * value, and the # value are core values of the peripheral keys.
