<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pipe joint capable of mitigating fastening torque of a nut while securing reliable sealing performance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The mechanical joint 1 comprises a joint body 10 inserted with an end part of a pipe P to be connected, the nut 20 screwed to the joint body 10 and formed with an inner peripheral tapered surface 23 with its diameter extending toward the joint body 10 side on its inner peripheral surface, a slip-off stopping member 40 biting into an outer peripheral surface of the pipe P by fastening action of the nut 20, and a packing 30 pressed to an end-part inner surface of the joint body 10 and the outer peripheral surface of the pipe P. The nut 20 internally comprises a rotation collar 50 having tapered surfaces along the inner peripheral tapered surface 23 on the inner/outer surfaces and arranged to be rotatable to the nut 20.
