METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING IP PACKET IN NETWORK BASED ON TUNNELING

PURPOSE: An IP packet transmission method in a tunneling based network and a device thereof are provided to transmit packets without entire performance degradation of a portable internet system, when transmitting packets between network equipment included in the portable internet system. CONSTITUTION: If the sum of the size of an IP(internet protocol) packet received from a transmission node and the size of a tunnel header exceeds a maximum transfer unit of a link between network element, a packet dividing unit(404) divides the internet protocol packet into multiple IP packets. A tunneling performing unit(406) performs tunneling by encapsulating the divided IP packets into the tunnel header. A packet transceiving unit(402) receives the IP packet from the transmission node. The packet transceiving unit transmits the tunneled IP packets via secondary network equipment to a reception node.
