Injection moulding footwear

A process for injection moulding articles of footwear, particularly boots, from elastomeric material by first injecting the sole to include an orifice then pre-vulcanising the sole and finally injecting the upper through the orifice and vulcanising both sole and upper. By reversing the usual order of moulding a longer vulcanisation time is provided for the thicker sole. Portions (1) and (2) of a mould are brought into contact while elastomeric material is injected through orifice (6) to form the sole (11). After partial vulcanisation of the sole the orifice provided at the head of channel (5) is used to inject the upper. The two are then vulcanised together.
