APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MAPPING SYMBOL

PURPOSE: A method and a device for mapping a symbol are provided to improve reception performance like a block error rate and a diversity gain by changing a mapping method with a codeword unit. CONSTITUTION: A symbol mapping device outputs a codeword(320) by encoding transmission data(310). The symbol mapping device maps the codeword on the symbol according to the first mapping method for a first transmission. The symbol mapping device maps the codeword on the symbol according to the second mapping method for a second transmission. The reliability of the mapped bit according to the first mapping method is different from the mapped bit according to the second mapping method. The reliability is in proportion with an average log likehood ratio value.
