A color-rendering index device consuming overall power less than conventional and involving reduced luminance variation in the exit plane of an exiting color light. The color-rendering index device comprises light boxes (21) each having a reflective sheet (214) and a shield plate (212). The color light emitted from a single-color LED (211) in each light box (21) diverges and exits from an exit surface (S1). With this, the luminance variation in the exit surface (S1) of the color light can be reduced. The wavelength regions of the color lights exited from the color boxes (21) correspond to respectively different colors. To emit a color light of the wavelength region corresponding to one of the colors, it is necessary to operate only one single-color LED (211) emitting the corresponding color light. Therefore, the overall power consumption of the device can be reduced.
