1,158,037. Belt tensioning mechanism. R. J. ENSTROM CORP. 5 Dec., 1967 [6 Dec., 1966], No. 55220/67. Heading F2Q. Drive is transmitted from a driving pulley 11, mounted on an engine shaft j, to a driven pulley 16, mounted on a transmission shaft e, by means of a belt 17, the tension of which is maintained by a resiliently mounted idler wheel 38, the end of driving shaft j being swingably suspended from transmission shaft e by means of a resilient telescopic strut 20. Idler wheel 38 is suspended from a casing by means of a yoke 36 and is drawn into engagement with the belt 17 by a yoke 41 pivotally connected to a spring capsule 50 incorporating a quick-release toggle handle 63. The telescopic strut 20 incorporates a resilient sleeve 30 and a resilient compression cushion 31. The invention is applied to a helicopter drive.
