1,243,337. Moulding tyres. DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd. 13 Nov., 1968 [18 Nov., 1967], No. 52550/67. Addition to 1,176,162. Heading B5A. Each pivoted tread moulding segment of the mould of the parent case is acted upon by a spring member comprising a number of coaxially arranged dished annuli compressible to tend to flatten the dished form of the annuli and to move the segments apart radially when the mould is opened and to break the adhesion of the tyre tread with the segment. Each spring member may include a headed guiding pin 8 within a hole 10 in the lower mould half 3 and acting against a lever 5 for transmitting spring force to the segment; the pin is acted upon by 'a helical spring 6 and groups 7a, 7b of dished annuli. When the upper and lower mould halves are brought together the upper half forces the segments against their spring members to mould closed position; on raising the upper half the segments are spring-urged radially away from the tyre. |
