1,247,556. Aquarium filter. AQUARIUMS Inc. 25 Oct., 1968 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 50795/ 68. Heading B1D. An aquarium filter, which has a downstream airlift or centrifugal pump and may be located inside or outside the tank, has a bottom layer of activated charcoal and a top layer of glass wool or polyester fibres, such as a polyterephthalate, which layer is formed by packing separate, preformed spherical or cylindrical coils of fibrous sheet into place. This enables an accurately predetermined quantity of fibre to be inserted, and the bundles readily deform to fit various shapes of filter housing. The fibres are staple (1-1.5 inches long) and the coils are coherent and 0.5 to 2.5 inches in diameter. |
