[Also in Division Cl] A filter comprises an element 12 and support means therefore 10. the element 10 comprising a pressure retaining outer tubular shell 34, a parallel inner tube 50, a transverse wall 48 closing one end of the annular space between the shell 34 and tube 50, the interior passage of tube 50 extending through the wall 48 and being connected to the said annular space by a port 76, said annular space containing granulated activated charcoal 60 extending from adjacent port 76 to the open end of the annular space, wire mesh retainer 58 the outer edge of which digs into the shell 34; and the support means 10 comprising a body 26 with an inlet duct 40 and outlet duct 64 with an upper surface where the ducts terminate, the surface being contoured for sealable engagement with shell 44 and tube 50, said support means further comprising a bolt 22 retained at 24 which passes through the tube 50 to a point adjacent wall 48 for screw threaded engagement with a nut 14 having a thrust face at 86, 84 for thrusting contact with said element to urge the same toward said body.
