PURPOSE: A Korean letter input device for a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to recommend a word and a postposition in recommendation list to generate a complete sentence even when a user inputs only the first syllable of the word. CONSTITUTION: The storage unit(58) separately stores a word and a postposition. An inferable word detection unit(57) detects inferable words which begin with a word inputted to the storage unit. A postposition extraction unit(55) extracts a postposition which is suitable to the last letter of a word inputted to the storage unit. Through a control unit(50), at least one word detected in the postposition extracting unit is displayed on a display unit(51). A selected word among the displayed words is replaced with a word inputted to the display unit. At least one postposition extracted in the postposition extracting unit is displayed on the display unit.
