SEPARATION OF D-MUSCONE AND L-MUSCONE FROM DL-MUSCONE

PURPOSE: A separation method of d-muscone and l-muscone from dl-muscone is provided to be suitable for preparing a final product of l-muscone, to reduce reaction steps compared to conventional methods, and to obtain high purity l-muscone at low costs. CONSTITUTION: A separation method of d-muscone(V) and l-muscone(IV) from racemates of dl-muscone(III) comprises: a stereoisomer synthesis step for synthesizing the ketal of an ester derivative of dl-muscone(III) by reacting (R)-2,3-dihydroxybutanedioic acid dialkyl ester with dl-muscone(III) in a reaction solvent; a reduction step for converting an ester group of the stereoisomers into an alcohol group in a solvent by using lithium aluminum hydride or sodium borohydride; a recrystallizaton step for separating and refining the reduction reaction compounds using a solvent; and a hydrolysis step for hydrolyzing the separated compounds.
