DISK DRIVE UNIT FOR SUPPORTING INTERFACE BASED ON DATA SECTORS OF DIFFERENT SIZES, AND ITS DATA WRITING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the loss of data outside a data rewrite area during power cutoff in write processing in a disk drive unit for supporting an interface by data sectors of different sizes. SOLUTION: An HDD supports two data sectors of different sizes in an interface. Data sector on a magnetic disk is a large data sector. The HDD receives a write command by a small data sector, and backs up user data when the boundaries SA and EA of its designated address (rewrite area) 113 do not match those of the large data sectors 111a and 111f on the magnetic disk. Thus, even when power cutoff occurs during write processing, the loss of user data not related to the command is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
