<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of continuing recording of moving images and surrounding environment sound by stopping the recording of abnormal sound generated during detaching and attaching work of a photographing lens or adjusting the recording volume. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a mounting part to/from which an optical system 2 can be attached and detached; a detection part 24 for detecting whether or not it is during the detaching work of the optical system 2 from the mounting part or whether or not it is during the attaching work; an imaging element 20 for imaging object light through the optical system 2; a moving image recording part 26 for recording the moving image based on imaging signals output from the imaging element 20; a sound recording part 26 for recording the sound of a surrounding environment; and a control part 22 for executing prescribed control for making the sound recording part 26 record the sound at or below a prescribed sound volume or stop the recording of the sound while the recording of the moving image by the moving image recording part 26 and the recording of the sound by the sound recording part 26 are being performed and also while it is detected that it is during the detaching work and the attaching work of the optical system 2 by the detection part 24.
