PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent countermeasures against drug tolerance by clarifying an MarA domain essential to mediation of the drug tolerance. SOLUTION: There are provided an MarA protein helix-turn-helix domain, a variant MarA protein helix-turn-helix domain and usage thereof in a screening assay for specifying a useful compound as an anti-infective and a screening assay for specifying a gene locus involved in mediation of the tolerance against an antibacterial agent.
