<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source chamber having a light shielding device capable of improving the exhaust efficiency of cooling wind and of shielding light from a light source device, and to provide a projector having the light source chamber. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projector 10 includes the light source chamber 120, a display element 51, a light source side optical system 61 for guiding the light radiated from the light source device 63 to the display element 51, a projection side optical system 62 for projecting an image ejected from the display element 51 on a screen, a projector controlling means, and a cooling fan 110 for cooling the light source device 63. The light source chamber 120 stores the light source device 63 and the light shielding device 140 for shielding the light radiated from the light source device 63, has a partition wall partially having an air intake port 113 for taking air for cooling the light source device 63, and has an exhaust hole 17 for discharging air out of a case. The light shielding device 114 has a horizontal rotation shaft 115 having a plurality of light shielding blades 117. The light shielding device 114 is arranged rotatably about, as the rotation center, the axis of the rotation shaft 115 between the light source device 63 and the exhaust hole 17.
