PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transporting device, which can be simplified by efficiently transmitting a reaction force from an upper rail to an upper end portion of an elevating mast. SOLUTION: This article transporting device comprises a lower rail and an upper rail 6 in parallel to each other. A stacker crane movable along the lower rail and the upper rail 6 comprises a travel cart movable along the lower rail, an elevating mast 8 erected on the travel cart, and a platform movable upward and downward along the elevating mast 8. In this device, a supporting frame 12 supporting a plurality of guided bodies 11 guided to both right and left sides of the upper rail 6 is mounted to the elevating mast 8. The top end of the elevating mast 8 is constituted to be higher than or equal to the bottom end of the upper rail 6, and the supporting frame 12 is mounted to the upper end portion of the elevating mast 8.
