Detergent compositions are made by spray drying aqueous slurries containing surfaceactive ethylene oxide adducts; inorganic and organic builders; and one or more phosphate esters, I, or their alkali metal or ammonium salts, said esters optionally being condensed phosphates or polyphosphates with 2-4 nuclei of general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 represent H or R(OC 2 H 4 ) n in which n is 0-30 and R is a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group having 4-22 carbon atoms or a mono-, di-, or tri-alkyl-substituted aryl residue having 6-24 carbon atoms in the alkyl portion excepting cases where R 1 and R 2 are both H.
