[Also in Division F2] An intermittent feed for punched cards 10 may include a ball bearing which is subjected to axial loading (e.g. by a nut 40 acting on inner races of bearings with outer races spaced at 36) to give a limited torque carrying capacity (e.g. from a toothed belt drive 26, 28 to wheels 14, 20) which may be overcome (e.g. by engaging a pawl 18 with a tooth of the wheel 20) to prevent rotation. The wheel 14 may co-operate with a wheel 12 to forward the punched cards 10 separated from the bottom of a stack by a picker knife (not shown) past a reading head 16. |
