Preparing di- or poly-amines from di- or poly-aldehydes by reductive amination of the aldehyde with ammonia (1) and hydrogen (3), comprises dissolving the aldehyde in a solvent in a ratio of 1:1000 to 1:1 (aldehyde:solvent), and continuously transforming the reaction solution in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst with ammonia and hydrogen in a fixed bed reactor, preferably a trickle-bed reactor (6) or a reactor with a moving catalyst bed (5), preferably a fluidized bed reactor. An independent claim is included for multiple primary amines, obtained by the above process.
