PURPOSE: A paper money counting apparatus and a counting method thereof are provided to enable users to use a counting apparatus in different usage environments by saving a plurality of usage environments of a counting apparatus according to a user. CONSTITUTION: A memory unit(520) saves a plurality of user environments according to a plurality of users. The operating unit selects one among a plurality of user environments saved in the memory unit. A controller(510) loads a selected one user environment. The counting unit numbers a paper money according to the control of the controller.
