<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for hard handoff in a broadcast communication system. <P>SOLUTION: When a subscriber station performs the hard handoff between two cells (base stations) where a broadcast stream is not synchronized, a subscriber station receiving a broadcast session in a former broadcast stream acquires a broadcast session in a new broadcast stream and identifies service option information. The subscriber station decodes the identified service option information, acquires a parameter necessary for processing the new broadcast stream and ends the handoff by decoding and outputting the former broadcast stream.
