A street boundary post which can be telescopically extended during deep snow conditions comprises a triangular tube 12 having a cap 22 supporting cylindrical extension tubes 14, 16. Each tube is preferably of plastics material, the tubes 14, 16 having lower and upper sets of protuberances 28, 30 and 62, 64 which cooperate with grooves 40, 38 and 58, 52 to lock the post in extended or retracted position. The tube 16 has a hole 78 for a warning lamp or flag, and a cap 70. The post 12 has a cylindrical base and is yieldably anchored to the ground by a ribbed tube 20, Fig. 4, having a sheet metal upper end 88 engaged by a groove 80 in the base. The base has a vertical slit allowing the post to disengage from its ground anchor on impact from a colliding vehicle. (For Figures see next column) |
