PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve capable of reducing flow sound of a refrigerant in starting a refrigerating cycle. SOLUTION: In this expansion valve 1, the refrigerant introduced from an inlet port 6 is guided to a valve section after receiving the first flow resistance in a small hole 47 and the second flow resistance in a void passage 48 in stages. A flow velocity of the refrigerant is suppressed by the total passage resistance, as a result, the flow sound can be suppressed to be lower than an allowable set value even in starting the refrigerating cycle when the flow sound of the refrigerant passing through the valve section increases. Meanwhile, as the necessary flow rate of the refrigerant can be secured by the total passage resistance, the capacity required for the refrigerating cycle can be secured.
