<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely control a high temperature for a fixing unit in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device that exerts temperature control for a fixing member includes: a first temperature detecting section that detects a temperature of the fixing member; a second temperature detecting section that is located in a position different from the first temperature detecting section and detects the temperature of the fixing member; a comparison section that compares pieces of information detected by the first and second temperature detecting sections, on the basis of these pieces of information; an altering section that alters a detection constant for the first or the second temperature detecting section after the comparison made by the comparison section; and a determination section that compares the pieces of the detected information of the first and the second temperature detecting section again after the alteration of the detection constant, and determines the state of the device from the results of the comparison. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
