<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems wherein a cloth piece detector of a cloth piece length measuring instrument in a known apparatus is installed on a receiving conveyer of a folding machine, thereby elongating the whole length of the folding machine and elongating the whole body of a cloth piece treating apparatus in a series of cloth piece treating apparatus spreading a large-area cloth piece, pressing it and folding it into a small size. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This cloth piece treating apparatus which spreads a large-area cloth piece, presses it with a press machine 6, and then folds it into a predetermined small area by a folding machine 1, is configured to measure the length of the spread cloth piece in the conveying direction with a cloth length measuring instrument 7 having a cloth piece detector 71 and then fold the spread cloth piece by the folding machine 1 on the basis of the length of the spread cloth piece. This cloth piece treatment apparatus is installed with the cloth piece detector 71 in the press machine 6 to shorten the horizontal length of a receiving conveyer 11 in the side of the folding machine 1 as short as possible, thereby shortening the whole length of the folding machine 1 and the whole length of the cloth piece treating apparatus.
