PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining the degree of wakefulness, which appropriately learns a criteria value for determining the degree of wakefulness. SOLUTION: The device 200 for determining the degree of wakefulness of a driver driving a vehicle includes: a steering condition detection means 240 for detecting the driver's steering operation amount or steering force; a counter means for adding up the time elapsed in a condition where the driver's steering operation amount or steering force is equal to or less than a predetermined value; a wakefulness degree decrease determining means 250 for determining that the degree of wakefulness has decreased when the time elapsed is equal to or greater than a criteria value; a criteria value learning means 260 for correcting the learning of the criteria value according to the driver's driving condition; and a number-of-travel detection means 220 for detecting the number of times that one's own vehicle has traveled on a road on which it is now traveling. The criteria value learning means permits the learning of the criteria value to be corrected on the basis of the driving condition when the number of times that the vehicle has traveled is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.
