<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video imaging apparatus for performing photography which is conscious of a dynamic range before compression of a high luminance part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The video imaging apparatus 10 includes: an image sensor 120; a knee processing part 132 which performs the compression of the high luminance part of a video signal based on an output signal of the image sensor; a block luminance calculation part 151 which divides an image based on the output signal of the image sensor into a plurality of blocks to calculate a luminance index value by each block; a Max Min extraction part 152 which extracts a block with the highest luminance index value; a display information generation part 153 which generates an image indicating an area of the extracted block and an image indicating the luminance index value as images for displaying exposure guide; an image superposition part 160 which generates a superposition image obtained by superposing the image based on the video signal in which the compression of the high luminance part is performed and the images for displaying the exposure guide; and a view finder 170 which displays the superposition image.
