<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a lens/fiber integrated junction body having less junction loss. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a method of heating and fusing a lens surface, with a tip end of a fiber brought in contact with the surface for jointing, the lens surface is heated and fused by arc discharge for at least 3 seconds or longer, with the tip end of the fiber brought in contact with the lens surface and pushed into the lens at least by ≥50 μm, desirably ≥100 μm, and after being fused, pulled up slightly by ≥5 μm.
