Use is claimed of a melt adhesive in fixing a micro-component onto a carrier. Independent claims are also included for (A) a fixing paste comprising a powdered melt adhesive, an agent giving thixotropic or structural viscosity properties and an agent solvent which does not dissolve or swell the melt adhesive; and (B) a fixing process involving (i) introducing a melt adhesive (13) onto a carrier (1) such that only a part of the surface of the carrier (1) covered by the microcomponent (2) is covered with the adhesive (13); (ii) positioning the component (2) at a gap-forming distance from the carrier (1) such that a bond is formed between carrier (1) and component (2) on cooling the hot adhesive; and (iii) filling the gap with an epoxide resin and hardening.
