<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sensor element which has less misdetection factors in detecting a landslide, can be used without problems in poor weather and can be further realized at low cost, and to provide a landslide detector which uses the sensor element. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sensor element 10 includes a piezoelectric ceramic 11; a diaphragm 12 having the piezoelectric ceramic 11 on one of surfaces and having the other surface serving as a detecting surface; a base 13 for supporting the diaphragm 12; a case 14 forming a space around the piezoelectric ceramic 11, provided on the diaphragm 12 and also supporting the diaphragm 12 via the base 13 so that the detecting surface of at least the diaphragm 12 is an outer face; and a cantilever 15, located on the side of the detecting surface of the diaphragm 12 having a protrusion protruding so that the detecting surface can be pushed, and serving as a flexible member elastically supported by the case 14.
