<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display that can cope with various curved-surface display screens. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display, an etching stopper 12 and a TFT forming layer 11 are formed on a TFT glass substrate 10, and an etching stopper 22 and a color filter forming layer 21 are formed on a counter glass substrate 20. By selectively etching the TFT glass substrate 10 and the counter glass substrate 20, the glass substrate is left near the center of the liquid crystal display. The flexible liquid crystal display is manufactured by sandwiching such a liquid crystal display by a TFT plastic substrate 40 and a counter plastic substrate 50. Since glass exists in the vicinity of the center of the liquid crystal display, rigidity is large therein, and since glass does not exist at the periphery part thereof, rigidity is small thereat.
