<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile station, handover method thereof and communication system, capable of shortening a time of voice interruption during a handover. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the mobile station (IP telephone terminal 100) performing wireless communications with base stations (AP1, AP2, AP3), which includes: a search means for performing channel scan for searching for a communicable handover destination base station; and a PING transmission means for transmitting PING to a default gateway via the base station searched by the channel scan. In the case that there is a response to PING, the wireless communication is performed using an IP address acquired already and in the case that there is no response to PING, the wireless communication is performed using an IP address re-acquired from a DHCP server via the base station searched by the channel scan.
