<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin extremely excellent in low birefringency, heat resistance, and, in a more preferred aspect, excellent in transparency; and to provide a molded article and a film containing the thermoplastic resin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The resin contains adamantylidene-bisphenol residue. The glass transition temperature of the resin is 160°C or higher, and the number-average molecular weight is 10,000 or more.
