PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and surely stop a first member moving in a direction orthogonal to an optical axis, in a lens barrel. SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes: the first member 20, which is rotated forward and backward between an unlock position for permitting the movement, in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis A of an optical member L4 and a lock position for locking the movement; driving means 30 and 31 which drive the first member 20; an unlock-inhibiting member which performs inhibition in the unlock position; and a lock-inhibiting member which performs inhibition in the lock position. The unlock-inhibiting member is attached so that the first component force 28P along a first direction VA, connecting the rotation center of the driving means 30 and 31 and the rotation center of the first member 20, of a first reaction force 28 applied to the first member 20 from the unlock prohibiting member, is produced in a direction where the first member 20 is pushed against the driving means 30 and 31. The lock-inhibiting member is attached so that a second component force 27P along the first direction VA, of a second reaction force 27 applied to the first member 20 from the lock prohibiting member is substantially equal to the first component force 28P.
