<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in display quality in a liquid crystal display device employing an in-plane switching type using a metallic black matrix. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device (100) comprises: a first substrate (10); a second substrate (20); a first electrode (9a) manufactured on the first substrate; a second electrode (11) manufactured on the first substrate and holding an insulating layer (12) between the second electrode and the first electrode; a liquid crystal layer (50) containing liquid crystal molecules (50a) driven by an electric field generated between the first electrode and the second electrode; and a metal light-shielding film (23) formed on the second substrate and covering the boundary of each of a plurality of pixels (70) wherein the liquid crystal molecules have negative dielectric anisotropy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
