PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which suppresses an unsuitable setting of an image forming condition due to an error in estimated temperature by carrying out timely correction of a relationship between the temperature and the electric characteristic without using a thermometer. SOLUTION: The temperature inside a case is estimated according to the output voltage which is applied on a transfer roller 1 when a prescribed current is fed to the transfer roller 1 by using the temperature characteristic of the resistance of the transfer roller 1. A fixing unit 5 of an on-demand method is actuated for four minutes and then the voltage applied to the transfer roller 1 when the prescribed current is fed to the transfer roller 1 is measured in a state where the temperature in the case is in a saturated state. A temperature correction coefficientαis obtained by dividing the applied voltage in the case of the transfer roller 1 with an average resistance value which is measured at the saturated temperature by the applied voltage which is measured at the saturated temperature. The image forming condition is set by comparison with a prescribed threshold value Vb by multiplying the applied voltage which is measured in the image formation by the temperature compensation coefficientα.
