<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell in which reaction in an anode described in a formula (1) is promoted, excessive methanol crossover is suppressed, degassing is efficiently carried out, and improvement of output is achieved. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes the anode 2, a cathode 3, and an electrolyte membrane arranged between the anode 2 and the cathode 3. The anode 2 includes an anode gas diffusion layer 8, a first anode catalyst layer 7 laminated on the anode gas diffusion 8 side, a second anode catalyst layer 5 laminated on the electrolyte membrane 4 side, and a conductive porous membrane 6 which is arranged between the first anode catalyst layer 7 and the second anode catalyst layer 5 and retains the electrolyte.
