<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To infiltrate water in laundry inside a drum without irregularities and to prevent the generation of air intrusion sound of a circulation pump. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the washing machine including a circulating water sprinkler for sucking water inside a water tub 6 through a circulation water path by the pump action of the circulation pump, delivering it from a water outlet 40 into a drum 11 and into the water tub 6 and circulating it, wherein a pump motor whose rotation speed can be controlled is used for the drive source of the circulation pump, and by changing the rotation speed of the pump motor in the middle of water supply in a washing step or during the washing step, a flexible shower operation for varying the discharge amount of the water from the water outlet 40 is executed.
