PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform error diffusion processing for suppressing density saturation without deteriorating original image gradations while saving memory capacity. SOLUTION: An image processing device includes: an input means for accepting multi-level image data; an integer-part converting means for converting an input value into an integer value by referring to a first table for converting the input value into an integer value obtained by truncating decimal places of aγ-corrected value; a threshold setting means that generates matrix data for area coverage modulation by referring to the input value; a decimal part converting means for converting the input value into an integer value by referring to a second table for converting the input value into an integer value obtained by multiplying theγ-corrected value below the decimal point by a matrix size generated by the threshold setting means; a reduction means for reducing the value converted by the decimal part converting means while using a threshold set by the threshold setting means; an addition means for adding the integer value converted by the integer-part converting means and the value converted by the reduction means; and an image processing means for performing image processing from the added integer value.
