A digital broadcast receiver and a method for processing broadcast service information is provided. A digital broadcast includes a network interface configured to receive an Internet Protocol (IP) packet delivering service discovery information and an IP packet delivering Broadband Content Guide (BCG) metadata and a controller configured to retrieve description information from the BCG metadata based on a service name of the service discovery information and create electronic program guides (EPG) based on the retrieved description information.
